Thobani specialises in construction and engineering law, as well as aspects of insurance law concerning organs of state. He has represented a broad range of public and private sector clients in adjudications, arbitrations and High Court applications. He also drafts bespoke design and build (turnkey) agreements.
He has provided legal advice and in two major projects in respect of Transnet SOC Ltd: numerous disputes arising from the New Multi-Product Pipeline Project; and the negotiations between Transnet and various Original Equipment Manufacturers concerning the 1 064 locomotives acquisition transaction.
In recognition of his work, Thobani has been appointed as an external examiner at the Wits University’s School of Construction Economics and Management. He is also a member of the Construction Industry Advisory Board of the Wits University School of Construction Economics and Management.
