Introduction

Johannesburg, 22 October 2024 – MNS Attorneys is excited to announce the remarkable journey of Nonhlanhla Twala, who has officially joined the firm as a candidate attorney. Nonhlanhla’s story began when she was just a young student recognized by MNS Attorneys for her academic excellence. Her journey from being a Corporate Social Investment (CSI) beneficiary to a legal professional highlights the power of investing in young talent and the importance of giving back to the community.

A Full-Circle Moment: From CSI Beneficiary to Candidate Attorney

Nonhlanhla Twala’s roots trace back to Duduza, the same community where MNS Attorneys’ founding partner, Mncedisi Ndlovu, grew up. Her journey with MNS Attorneys began in 2012, when she was awarded the Dux Learner Award at Dan Radebe Primary School. Recognising her academic potential, MNS Attorneys provided her with a laptop to support her studies, marking the beginning of a meaningful relationship.

By 2017, Nonhlanhla had excelled further, being recognised as one of the top 10 Grade 12 learners at MOM Sebone High School in Duduza. Once again, MNS Attorneys stepped in to support her and other top learners, awarding them a Certificate of Recognition and a R15,000 stipend to assist with their transition to university.

In June 2024, Nonhlanhla successfully completed her LLB degree and has now joined MNS Attorneys as part of their candidate attorney cohort. This full-circle moment is a testament to the long-term impact of Corporate Social Investment and the importance of nurturing young talent.

MNS Attorneys’ Commitment to Black Excellence and Transformation

MNS Attorneys’ ongoing commitment to transformation and black excellence is reflected in their dedication to Corporate Social Investment. Initiatives like the Dux Learner Awards, matric revision camps, and school feeding programmes demonstrate the firm’s commitment to uplifting youth and empowering the next generation of leaders.

Founding partner Mncedisi Ndlovu shared his thoughts on Nonhlanhla’s inspiring journey, stating, “Our commitment to promoting black excellence is not just about the present — it’s about building a legal profession that is diverse, inclusive, and representative of South Africa’s rich talent pool.”

Conclusion

Nonhlanhla Twala’s journey from learner to candidate attorney at MNS Attorneys is an inspiring example of the rewards that come from investing in young talent. MNS Attorneys remains committed to supporting individuals like Nonhlanhla and fostering a more inclusive and diverse legal profession in South Africa.
